the Lunchable

on the tv tray

with the gold legs and

flower art

is open

like the heart of any hostess

worth her salt.

had i known sooner

about your

parents’ visit,

i’d have got all the dog hair

off the carpet

and bought a second Lunchable.

__________

an excruciatingly imagist poem for the sunday mini challenge.

  1. grapeling says:

vivid. grins. i dunno. dog hair can be considered as a return gift to your visitor. it’s like an ongoing present.

  2. Here is the close attention to detail (though I confess I’m not entirely sure what a lunchable is). There’s nothing to say that Imagist poetry should be anything but excruciating.

  3. hedgewitch says:

Only Coal could turn a prepackaged nightmare into a creative one. Oscar Mayer and Williams both are hurting.

  4. ManicDdaily says:

Another laugh. Worth her salt works especially well here. K.

  5. Ella says:

    lol…so fun! I love it~

  6. Helen Dehner says:

More chuckles … We should send Kerry a box of Lunchables.

  7. Kay Davies says:

I just love it when both you and Fireblossom come out to play. Coal and fire…hot stuff. Politically incorrect, but still hot stuff.
    Luv, K

  8. lolamouse says:

If I knew you were coming, I’d have opened a second Lunchable….

  9. Satirical … it’s sad not many sit down at the dinner table for a real meal and conversation.

  10. Oh God, Shay, you are really giving WCW a hard time today… for me it would be cat hair!! Amy

  11. Mama Zen says:

    I’m totally cracking up!

  12. Debi Swim says:

Wonderful. Who would have thought a lunchable would be in a poem. I love the humor here.

  13. do they still make those trays? I remember TV dinners. Great poem!

  14. Tiffany Coffman says:

    Wicked good.

  15. dani says:

always the perfect hostess, Ms Coal!
