ring twelve bells for the year that’s gone…

ring ’em now, ring ’em loud;

ring for the ones with their best clothes on,

laid fresh underground.

ring ’em the same for the sinner or the saint

all across the land;

a bell rings like for the tremblin’ quake

as for a delicate hand.

  1. hedgewitch says:

    There seems to be a great sound of bells in the air lately–that time of year–great lines in this, and great to hear old Gord. As we used to toast, ‘brighter days ahead.’ Or was that ‘far out and bottoms up?’

  2. I guess we should ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for all.

  3. ayala says:

    Happy New Year!

  4. Mary says:

    I hear those bells! Ring in the new!
    Happy New Year to you.

  5. Heaven says:

    Ring those bells ~

    Happy New Year to you ~

  6. I had to laugh at Hedgewitch’s reference to “Old Gord” because I remember he wasn’t a whole lot older than I was, when I was young. I don’t remember this song, though.
    Yes, the bells ring the same for all of us, whatever our deeds or misdeeds. Well done!
