the same old love

Posted: 12/27/2011 in house of fools, house of love, house of music

i got a new tv

to watch the same old shows

as i always done.

got a brand new song

but i don’t care to sing it

for just anyone.

and it isn’t news

that one look at you

and i come undone…

see, it still is true

what i feel for you

is the same old love.

got a new guitar

but the old songs are

what i like to play

and there’s nothing new

’bout the same old blues

since you went away…

how long will it take

for my heart to break

for the same old love?

  2. claudia says:

enjoyed listening to your love song.. and played on the new guitar it sounds double good..

  3. rosemarymint says:

    Great sing-song rhythm!

  4. hedgewitch says:

This has got quite the old school fortyish sound to it–I can hear it with a smoky voiced chick and some back up singers in harmony, even. The old songs make the new songs look like unnecessary musical clutter plenty of times.

  5. Laurie Kolp says:

Very touching… there’s something wonderful about the familiar.

  6. brian says:

nice…sing it coal…could def hear it, a new guitar de does not guarantee new songs…when alli got is you on my mind…

  7. dani says:

no one sings the blues like you do, coal!

  8. coal black sings from the heart.

  9. Brendan says:

Like Hedgewitch sez, poetry’s cheaper ‘n’ whiskey, but it still burns the throat, don’t you think, especially when it slow-dances alone to the blues?

  10. Pour the whiskey and play the blues, I’m a listening

  11. Mary says:

May the new guitar bring new life to the same old songs!

  12. Mama Zen says:

Hey, the old songs are what I like to hear anyway.

  13. Beautiful and poignant. Coal Black rocks, whatever she sings.
