callin’ in dead

Posted: 10/21/2011 in house of love, house of weather

it’s a rainy old mornin…

can’t lift my head

or get out of bed;

it’s too nice here…

think i’ll call in dead.

rain on the window starts me thinkin…

about butter on bread.

how sweet would that be?

call me crazy,

but i’m callin in lazy.

rain on leaves makes ’em sure enough shine…

they sure enough like it

like your lips on mine.

hand me that phone,

and listen to me lie.

    i’m not familiar with Billie Myers ~ LOVE the song! ♥ i will neither confirm nor deny if i’ve ever called in lazy {looking around to make sure no one can see the smirk on my face.}

    hey, Sista Poet ~ would you mind if i blatantly stole an idea from you and wrote a poem with this song sometime in the future? love, Love, LOVE the phrase “kiss the rain”!!!

  3. really like the atmosphere and rhyme to this piece you did.

    Some lies just need to be told!

  5. I used to want to call in “sick of it,” or “sick of my boss.” Now that I’m self-employed and make my own hours, I also make my own fun and even when I don’t feel great, I can usually get something done.

    This was a cleverly stated universal truth. I can’t imagine anyone not chuckling at this and saying, “Yeah, I know how you feel!” Great stuff! Peace, Amy
