had a dog

liked to sleep all day

passed out

nothin move but the feet,

but mama say he knew my name

and when he hear it

got springs in his feet

jumpin out of his skin for joy.

mostly i feel passed out and lazy

nothin move but the heart

but i love your name

and when i hear it

whenever you’re near

got a spring in my step

jump out of my shoes for joy.

for One Shot Wednesday

Everybody gets a little extra bounce in their walk at the sound of someone they love drawing near. Nice little piece, a tinge of nostalgia with a reflective quality of warm-hearted love – animal or man, certain things just draw a smile.

  2. Well, of course you knew I’d love THIS one! So beautiful! I can SEE the dog!!

  3. brian miller says:

cute..you and the dog got something in common…and i bet it makes the others heart bounce a bit as well to read it…

  4. ~Sarah~ says:

I love it. Those natural reactions. What comes from one’s heart- be it canine or man.

    • Gay says:

Ah..the soft spot. Of course I love it. I had Pyrenees once upon a life time ago.
They didn’t bounce much, just herded us around. But they were beauties and they knew it!

  5. Old Ollie says:

    Another song…future song…lyrical magic.

    Oh, this is good!

  7. hedgewitch says:

Sometimes the tail wags the dog, but it’s all good cuz it don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that spring.

  8. ivoryjezebel says:

What are we but dogs when it comes to love? This made me smile.

It was my uncle, as well, who committed suicide.
